established in 1782

Dating back to 1782, the Boatside Inn has a rich history as an alehouse and continues to be a popular destination for drinkers and diners both local and from further afield. It was originally a trading station and stop for river crossings, Warden Bridge, along with all the bridges in the Tyne Valley, except for the bridge at Corbridge was destroyed in the great Flood of 1771.

The first road bridge at Warden was a suspension bridge built in 1826, in 1877 it collapsed under the weight of a steam threshing machine and was rebuilt. Eventually the bridge was replaced by a stone arch bridge in 1903 and this is the bridge that stands today.

Dog friendly
